The Ten Requirements of Home Staging

1 Clean, including windows (and take those dusty drapes down while you're at it).

2 Declutter.

3 Repaint in neutral colors.

4 Rid the home of mustiness or pet odors by any means necessary (including recarpeting).

5 Do not have a TV in the living room or appliances taking up counter space in the kitchen.

6 Have fluffy new towels in the bathroom.

7 Light the home properly adding extra lamps as needed.

8 Tidy the closets, especially the linen closet.

9 Repaint the front door and shutters.

10 Remove extraneous furniture (ideally, one-third of the furniture in each room), to make the house appear more spacious.
